The highest ballpark in the majors, Coors Field is known as the most hitter-friendly park due to its altitude. It sits at 5,200 feet above sea level and has broken the record twice for most home runs hit in a ballpark in one season. During its construction, workers found dinosaur fossils which later resulted in the birth of the Rockies’ mascot Dinger, the triceratops.
Coors Field was built with accessibility in mind and sits near Interstate 25. With Union Station two blocks away, public transportation is a great way to get to the ballpark. If you want to drive, there are a few lots nearby, as well as city parking in its Lower Downtown Denver neighborhood.

The Blue Moon Brewery at The Sandlot is located behind the Right Field Stands and is a great place to grab a bite to eat or drink during the game. In addition to the ballpark staples, Coors Field offers local favorites such as the Denver Cheesesteaks and Rocky Mountain Oysters. Beginning with the 2019 season, there are a couple new ballpark food items being offered including Elote-Topped Tots and Shishito Peppers.
Coors Field has a really fun atmosphere. I got the full Coors Field treatment when it started pouring rain and everyone had to run up onto the concourse to stay dry during the rain delay. The center field bleacher section, also known as the “Rockpile”, is a great way to enjoy the game at a low cost.
There were a decent amount of Rockies fans at the game, but it definitely was not a sellout. Even with the rain delay, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. With a packed concourse of people wanting to stay dry, the fans were courteous and managed to not get too rowdy.
If you happen to be visiting Denver, I’d definitely suggest catching a game at Coors Field. This is one of those ballparks that can be enjoyed whether you’re a baseball fan or not. The atmosphere is very relaxed, there are fairly cheap seats to every game, and who wouldn’t want to watch Nolan Arenado play?
