Things To Do In Porto
Cais da Ribeira
Address: R. do Cais da Ribeira, 4050-328 Porto, Portugal
If you’re visiting Porto, Cais da Ribeira should definitely be on your list. This riverfront promenade alongside the Douro River has tons of restaurants, live music and brightly-colored homes. It’s a great place to take a walk and soak in the sun.
Livraria Lello
Address: R. das Carmelitas 144, 4050-161 Porto, Portugal
The Lello Bookstore is known as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. The winding staircase is very popular with visitors and the entire bookstore feels magical. It’s rumored that this bookstore helped inspire the Harry Potter books.
Clérigos Tower
Address: R. de São Filipe de Nery, 4050-546 Porto, Portugal
The Clérigos Tower is the highest bell tower in Portugal. I suggest purchasing a ticket and visiting the museum, plus climbing the 200+ steps to the very top. You’ll be able to look out across the city of Porto and catch some incredible views.
Gaia Cable Car
Address: Av. de Ramos Pinto 331, 4430-233 Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal
The cable car is located on the banks of the Douro River, just across the bridge. I’d suggest starting at the lower Cais de Gaia station and taking it up to the Jardim de Morro station. The ride is about 5 minutes.
Praia dos Ingleses
Address: Av. do Brasil 166, 4150-155 Porto, Portugal
This beach is located a bit outside of the main town. I was able to catch a bus over and I’m so glad I went. I was in Porto in winter so while it was a bit cold, the sun was out and the short trip was definitely worth it.
Douro River Cruise
Address: R. do Cais da Ribeira, 4050-328 Porto, Portugal
I don’t book many tours when I travel, but the Douro River Cruise is one of the few that I’d suggest. You’ll get to view all six of Porto’s bridges from the water and catch views of Porto and Gaia as you cruise by.
